Author: SIRIO
SIRIO® has won the Gold Medal, the highest honor at the 51st International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva, for its project, "Development of Plant-Based Functional Health Ingredients Using a Biotransformation Platform Technology". Jointly developed by SIRIO's R&D teams in China and Europe, the project represents a significant breakthrough in the biotransformation of plant-based functional health ingredients and reflects the growing R&D and innovation capabilities of China's nutrition and health sector.

SIRIO's Gold Medal and Certificate from the International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva
Founded in 1973, the International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva is jointly organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the Swiss Federal Government, the Republic and Canton of Geneva, and the City of Geneva. Widely regarded as one of the world's longest-running, largest and most influential international exhibitions of inventions, it is often referred to as the "Oscars of Innovation" and enjoys broad recognition across the global technology, industrial and intellectual property communities1. At the exhibition's 51st edition, SIRIO emerged from a field of more than 1,400 inventions from nearly 40 countries and regions to win the Gold Medal, underscoring its international competitiveness in innovation in plant-based functional health ingredients.
Technology Excellence Driving Global Innovation
As global demand for plant-based functional ingredients continues to grow, improving the efficacy and bioavailability of botanical ingredients has become a key focus for the functional food industry. The development and utilization of medicinal and edible plants, however, is often hindered by low extraction efficiency, poor solubility and limited bioavailability of their bioactive compounds. Built on SIRIO's proprietary E-Cube Bioinspired Efficacy Technology Platform, the award-winning technology leverages targeted biotransformation enabled by patented microbial strains, including SP021 and SP0552, to convert high-molecular-weight nutrients in botanical raw materials into readily absorbable, highly bioavailable small-molecule bioactives. The platform enhances the functionality of botanical ingredients, improves bioavailability, and optimizes flavor and sensory attributes.

Schematic of the E-Cube Bioinspired Efficacy Technology Platform
SIRIO's proprietary E-Cube Bioinspired Efficacy Technology Platform mimics the body's natural digestion and nutrient absorption processes. Guided by three core pillars, Enhance, Empower and Expand, the platform delivers nutritional health solutions with enhanced nutritional benefits, improved absorption and enhanced safety. At the core of the platform is targeted biotransformation technology that enables the industrial-scale application of a green and highly efficient biotransformation process. By enhancing the performance and application versatility of medicinal and edible plants and other botanical ingredients, the technology supports the development of products across a full range of dosage forms, including gummies, beverages, softgels, powders and tablets.
Building on the platform, SIRIO has developed a portfolio of innovative functional ingredients, including LychOtics®, Citruslender®, Ginsentia™ and AppOtics®. To date, the platform has generated two proprietary microbial strains, secured seven patents and resulted in six published research papers, with three additional patent applications pending. These innovative ingredients have also earned five international industry awards. They have already been commercialized in China, the United States, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region, where they have gained broad recognition from international customers.
Global R&D Collaboration Fostering an International Innovation Ecosystem
SIRIO has built a global R&D footprint across China, Europe and the United States. The award-winning project demonstrates the effectiveness of cross-regional collaboration and innovation through the joint efforts of the Company's R&D teams in China and Europe. Committed to "Global R&D, Collaborative Innovation" and its evidence-based nutrition philosophy, SIRIO aligns technological innovation with market demand while leveraging world-class scientific expertise. This approach ensures that its innovations comply with regional regulatory requirements and meet the evolving needs of consumers across global markets.
Looking ahead, SIRIO will continue to pursue its mission of "Advance nutrition science and technology, deliver value to health". The Company will further strengthen its end-to-end evidence-based nutrition capabilities, enhance the E-Cube Bioinspired Efficacy Technology Platform, and bring to market more highly differentiated products and technologies backed by robust scientific evidence and superior consumer experience. Working with partners worldwide, SIRIO will continue to help drive the nutrition and health industry's transition from marketing-driven growth to science-driven innovation, contributing to a more trusted, healthier and more sustainable industry ecosystem while bringing the benefits of Chinese innovation to consumers worldwide.
