Sirio Pharma Co., Ltd.’s patented invention, “Softgel Shell and Softgel” (Patent No. ZL202110719246.4), has been awarded the China Patent Excellence Award1 at the 26th China Patent Awards following the official announcement of the award winners.
The China Patent Awards, China's highest government honor for patents, are jointly presented by the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). This recognition affirms SIRIO’s leadership in core technology innovation and its strong intellectual property capabilities.

Award-Winning Patent Certificate with Plant-Based Softgel Products
Plant-based softgels have long been challenged by premature gelation, poor manufacturability, and oil leakage. Through innovations in gellan gum technology, SIRIO’s R&D team developed a high-strength, acid-resistant gel formulation that achieves industry-leading performance in both gastric stability and intestinal disintegration.
The technology's key commercial advantage lies in its ability to achieve targeted intestinal release without a separate enteric coating. It also eliminates the fishy burps commonly associated with Omega-3 supplements, a long-standing source of frustration for consumers. SIRIO’s proprietary one-step manufacturing process eliminates the need for the additional enteric coating required by conventional gelatin-based enteric softgels. The result is a crystal-clear plant-based softgel that meets clean-label and vegan product requirements.
As the first company in the world to secure a patent for a commercially available gellan gum-based enteric plant-based softgel, SIRIO has set a new benchmark in plant-based softgel technology.
The award reflects SIRIO’s sustained focus on R&D and its strategic approach to intellectual property development.
The technology is already protected by comprehensive patent coverage across major international markets, including the United States, Europe, Australia, and Canada2.

SIRIO’s Patent Portfolio for Plant-Based Softgel Technologies
As of June 30, 2026, SIRIO and its subsidiaries held 199 patents, including 119 invention patents, with 28 granted overseas, and had filed 20 PCT patent applications. In Q2 2026 alone, the Company secured 10 new invention patents, including patents in the United States, Japan, and Australia3, highlighting its strong innovation capabilities in integrated nutraceutical solutions.
The technology has achieved large-scale commercialization and delivered significant economic value. Strong market performance across North America, Europe, and other international markets demonstrates the global commercial success of China’s homegrown innovation.
Building on this patented technology, SIRIO continues to advance plant-based softgel innovation through its flagship Plantegrity® Plant-Based Softgel Technology Platform, the foundation of its plant-based innovation ecosystem. SIRIO has developed a broad portfolio of plant-based solutions, including plant-based softgels and plant-based gummies, to address diverse consumer and nutritional needs. By unlocking new applications for plant-based solutions, the Company enables brand partners to develop differentiated products with a stronger competitive edge.
Prior to this latest recognition, the patented technology had already gained international recognition through SIRIO’s HeartClear plant-based, coating-free enteric softgel, which received the Special Award at NutraFood Poland.
