Sirio Pharma Co., Ltd.’s patented invention, “Softgel Shell and Softgel” (Patent No. ZL202110719246.4), has been awarded the China Patent Excellence Award¹ at the 26th China Patent Awards following the official announcement of the award winners.

The China Patent Awards, China's highest government honor for patents, are jointly presented by the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). This recognition affirms SIRIO’s leadership in core technology innovation and its strong intellectual property capabilities.

Plant-based softgels have long been challenged by premature gelation, poor manufacturability, and oil leakage. Through innovations in gellan gum technology, SIRIO’s R&D team developed a high-strength, acid-resistant gel formulation that achieves industry-leading performance in both gastric stability and intestinal disintegration.

The technology's key commercial advantage lies in its ability to achieve targeted intestinal release without a separate enteric coating. It also eliminates the fishy burps commonly associated with Omega-3 supplements, a long-standing source of frustration for consumers. SIRIO’s proprietary one-step manufacturing process eliminates the need for the additional enteric coating required by conventional gelatin-based enteric softgels.
